I dreamt that I was at a Christmas party and I kept having to go to the bathroom. Every time I sat down on the toilet the back would never be there. Two of my students who were rough around the edges came in and got in my face, but I didn’t move because I knew they were just messing around. They left and I went back out to the party and my boyfriend from high school was there with another girl. He told me that he didn’t want to be with me and I got mad, but then his mom came in and yelled at him for giving me the wrong impression because he had been flirting with me. It felt good to be stood up for. She told me to go home, so I went back to the party but everyone was gone so I took the last of the food and my present and left. As I was walking home with my dad and my daughter a husband and wife came out of the woods chasing their black lab dog who was injured. They said that there was a bear on the path, but they didn’t know where. They said it was rabid and very aggressive to stay away from it. We kept walking because my dad and I wanted to see the bear. We came across a black bear and started running. Then a little white rabid bear with scraggly fur and red eyes came charging after us. I had on full snow gear so it was harder to run, but I kept grabbing my daughter and saving her. We ran through someone’s house and got away from it for a second, then the black bear came barreling through followed by the rabid bear. We kept running and ran right up a hill that was covered in snow and I fell through and landed in water. My snow stuff was completely saturated and I kept getting pulled down under the water. But my dad saved me. Just as I got out, the rabid bear came right up beside us and I snatched my daughter up just before he bit her and yelled to my dad “keep going, I’ve got her!”
This dream is rich with symbolism and could be shedding light on several aspects of your waking life. Here’s an interpretation of what your subconscious might be processing:
Christmas Party and Bathroom Incident: The setting of a Christmas party signifies a time of joy, festivity, and reunion, yet your need to repeatedly go to the bathroom might symbolize a desire for privacy or an escape from a situation. The absent toilet back could represent feelings of vulnerability, lack of support, or insecurity. Perhaps you face situations in real life where you feel you can't fully relax or find the stability you need.
Encounter with Students: The students, who are “rough around the edges”, may embody confrontational or challenging aspects of your life. Despite this, your steadfast reaction indicates inner strength and a clear understanding of the situation, suggesting that you are aware of certain challenges but feel confident in handling them.
Boyfriend from High School and his Mom: Revisiting an old relationship with a twist involving your ex’s mother indicates a re-examination of past relationships or feelings. His mother defending you and offering guidance might signify a need or desire for external validation and support in current relationships. She signifies an authoritative figure advocating for your truth and emotions.
Taking the Last of the Food and Present: This could illustrate feelings of taking what is left behind after others have moved on, or extracting value from situations you perceive as empty or concluding. It reflects resourcefulness or the ability to make the best of situations.
The Bears and Running: Bears often symbolize introspection and solitude. The dynamic of encountering both a normal black bear and a rabid bear suggests different threats or challenges in your life. The rabid bear represents chaos, aggression, or a perceived threat that feels urgent and unavoidable. The snow gear that hampers your movement might signify how preparedness for difficult situations sometimes slows our ability to react swiftly, yet you manage to keep going, which speaks to perseverance.
Water and Being Pulled Under: Water is a common symbol for emotions and the unconscious. Falling into the water and being pulled under might reflect overwhelming feelings or situations in life that make you feel submerged, but the act of being saved indicates resilience and familial or personal safety nets in your life—those who support and help you rise above challenges.
Protecting Your Daughter: This represents your protective instincts and commitment toward loved ones. Grabbing her and ensuring her safety, especially from the threatening bear, underscores your priorities and strength in adversity. It also highlights the notion of sacrifice and bravery when it comes to those you care about.
In summary, your dream combines themes of social engagement, personal challenges, past relationships, protection of loved ones, and resilience in adversity. It might be encouraging you to examine your feelings about support systems, confrontations, and responsibilities as well as highlighting your abilities to tackle pressing challenges head-on while protecting those you cherish.
